Welcome to the wonderful life we are living in our 20’s where we are all scared shitless of what we are doing with our lives, and if we are doing enough and if everything we are doing is up to perfection… and if you’re older or younger than that, preaching to you too.
I’m the type of person and I’ve always been this way, where in all my passions I want everything to be perfect all the time. This includes when I’m doing makeup, taking photos, down my own makeup, writing songs, singing, dancing, ect… Now I’m sure there are so many of you out there that feel the same way and all of us of course want to be as good as we can be in what we love doing. In todays society with all the social media and only the good being posted, seeing our peers’ lives look “perfect” it makes it 10 times harder and makes us 10 times harder on ourselves. Trust me you guys, I get anxiety about not doing enough every single day and that I’m not exactly where I want to be yet. This is when you need to stop for a moment and take time and look back on maybe even a few months ago and look at all you’ve accomplished within that time frame, even a year ago. Doing this makes me realize shit, why am I always being so hard on myself, you are doing just fine and are doing better than you think. Of course this is probably never going to go away. It’s always going to be there, but this also goes back to when I was talking about really trusting the process of becoming. We spend so much of our lives worrying about the future, worrying about what we are “doing with our lives.” When we are living them right NOW. Do we want to be looking back on our younger years and wishing we would have just LIVED instead of worried about everything we are doing and the pressure to be perfect. Perfection isn’t real. We post what makes us happy, We post to share the best parts of our lives, we want to post things that inspire us and motivate us.
Work on falling in love with your imperfections. Use your imperfections to make yourself better and be in competition with yourself. 9x out of 10 nobody is focused on you, but you need to be focused on you and be the best you that you can be. I just wanted to let you guys know that I too struggle with this on the daily, but whats really helped me is taking a step back and looking back on things I’ve done over the last year to where I’m at now. I LOVE reminiscing on memories, it’s honestly one of my favorite things to do because it makes me realize how much I’ve grown.
